A Classic Green Beans Recipe

by Kathy Smith

Here is one of my favorite uncomplicated green beans recipe that feeds four to 6 people for a side dish.

I simply like green beans. I'm keen on them raw for a quick munchie or along with a sandwich at lunch time. If I happen to be am rounding up ingredients for roasted chicken, turkey noodle, beef pot roast, or vegetable soup, I simply pour them in the soup pot without chopping them up. Their small size is why I don't have to put time in over chopping them up for stews but still they're tough enough for being simmered for a long time in the pot without shredding. Listed below is a recipe for green beans for a side dish.

green beans Ingredients:
1 lb . or 16 oz . of peeled, raw green beans (if you utilize homegrown green beans from a garden, you'll need eight to ten green beans to do this recipe)

3 tbsps . white sugar

1 tbs unsalted butter

Pinch of salt

Water to cover

You can put green beans, sugar, butter and salt within a medium size pot and put water until it merely barely covers the tops of your green beans. Bring your water to a boil and then reduce heat to medium. Let the water to evaporate as green beans boil and be careful to put in a tiny amount of water when necessary to prevent the green beans from carmelizing on the pot. Every so often stir the green beans to make certain thorough cooking. Carry on and cook the green beans at a light boil for 8-10 mins or until the green beans supple when stuck with a fork. Drain all of the water and serve either cold or hot.

You may adjust this green beans recipe to own liking by adjusting the sugar or salt. If you prefer a sweeter carrot recipe, add another tablespoon of white sugar. Keep in mind to adjust the sugar to water proportions to guarantee that there is adequate water to dissolve more sugar.

If excessive sugar is added to the green beans and the water inside the pan isn't increased, then the green beans could get sticky sweet and there is a risk for the sugar to burn inside the boiling pan. Relish this green beans recipe!
